Duncan Speakman is a sound and video artist who works in both live and mediated spaces using contemporary and emergent technologies.

His work explores how we use sound to navigate the physical and socio-political spaces we live in, and the impact of audio on our psyche. He has been exhibited internationally at festivals including ISEA (Nagoya), Futuresonic (Manchester), ArteAlmeda (Mexico), Navigate (Newcastle), and has created pieces for a number of large scale site-specific events.

In 2002 he received the Clark Trust Award for Digital Arts, following this he worked with Hewlett Packard designing networked sound installations for their mobile computing research. From 2002 – 2004 he worked with PVA (Bridport) as a facilitator on their Labculture project, collaborating with a variety of artists on digital projects. From 2003 - 2005 he worked with Somerset Film and Video helping to run training, outreach and educational projects from their open access media centre in Bridgwater. In 2005 he designed a school courtyard with a permanent sound installation for Bristol City Council and received critical acclaim for his videoblog project 29fragiledays.

He is currently artist in residence at the Brewhouse Theatre and visiting lecturer in technology and performance at Dartington College of Arts.
